"May you always play with the stars and provoke the moon...always trust in the madness and forever tell the world that wild is your favorite color."
Devyn Rivers is a dark contemporary & fantasy romance author living in Northern California. She's been a voracious reader and writer since she was a child but made her publishing debut Jan 2024 with her book Red Rabbit. Her books are dark and spicy with badass female leads who fall for handsome, dark and villainous men: often more than one! When she isn't writing, she works in the photography industry, rides horses and tries to tame her tattoo obsession.

For over a decade I ran my own business as a wedding and boudoir photographer -- capturing stories visually instead of through words. I was a force behind the camera -- teaching and encouraging women to pursue rebellious self-love. I watched strangers unfold into themselves and learn to take up space. I watched women reclaim their power -- with nothing more than a steady exhale as she decided to really see herself again. For years I built a community of light and shadow -- places where vulnerability became rebellion. It became not about the photos but about the power that came in creating them.
I've always been a writer and it was a life goal to hold a book I finished in my hand. However, despite writing for well over 30 years, I'd never finished anything. Red Rabbit changed all of that. Growing up, I loved fantasy and stories that made me feel something. It's no different now. I want to see the characters go through hardships in order to see what's on the other side. Maybe because I'm always looking to reinvent or dive deeper into my own shadows -- I continue to live on the threshold -- and I think that's what drives me to write what I do because I want to see what the characters are forced to face about themselves and what they evolve into on the other side. I've done a lot of shadow work myself (thanks Aries placement), and I'm always fascinated by the psychology of it all. What happens if I touch this trigger? Why am I reacting this way? What happens if I sit with it? What would it cost me to let it go? What's on the other side if I do? Gah! It's just so incredibly interesting what humans choose to hold onto and the power that comes with moving through it, rather than holding onto it.
And for the ones who maybe need to find their way back to themselves through the safety of fiction. There's power in storytelling in the dark, where the fire of transformation only touches what you want it to.
I know what I do as a photographer and what I do with words are different things, but I can't help but see similarities.
I write for the deviant souls
and the fearless hearts.
For the dreamers, and the monsters in the dark.
For the hearts that break, burn and rise again.
We walk through fire, darling, and we're waiting for you.

I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A CREATIVE SOUL.
But, my story began behind the lens.
I write for the wild ones.

I was a storyteller using light, now I use words.
I play with shadows. I call you across the threshold.
